Wilma Catherine Grothoff

Wilma Grothoff, 84, of Taos passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Westphalia Hills Retirement Center.

She was born September 6, 1936 in Linn to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Adelhardt) Linnenbrink. Wilma grew up in Linn where she graduated from high school. On April 28, 1962, Wilma married Herman Grothoff at St. George Catholic Church, Linn. After moving to Taos, Wilma and Herman were blessed with five children, Lisa, Lori, Joe, Lindy and Greta. Whether it was cooking, baking, sewing clothes for the kids or canning vegetables from the garden, Wilma took great pride in taking care of her family. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, puzzles and watching the birds and wildlife in their backyard. Wilma loved spending time with her family at their cottage on the Osage River.

Surviving family members include her husband, Herman of Taos, five children, Lisa (Kevin) Cassmeyer of Taos, Lori (Roger) Lamb of Taos, Joe (Diane) Grothoff of Loose Creek, Lindy (Charlotte) Grothoff of Loose Creek, Greta (Darren) Heckman of Taos, eleven grandchildren, Ashton Patel, Robyn Eiken, Melissa Cassmeyer, Liz Freie, Brian Lamb, Lucas, Morgan and Makayla Grothoff, Claire, Natalie and Abbey Heckman, eight great grandchildren and two sisters, Esther Jaegers of Jefferson City and May Lou Thoenen of Linn.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday at the church with additional visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Father Tony Rinaldo will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
