William James Troutt

William James Troutt, 81, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Jefferson City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 31, 1936, in Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of the late William Ray and Helen Louise Barrett Troutt. He was married on November 12, 1960, in West Plains, Missouri, to Leota Fay Shaw who survives at home. Mr. Troutt was a 1954 graduate of West Plains High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. He retired in 1992 as Accountant and General Manager of Carroll Motor Company in Mexico, Missouri, where he had been employed for thirty years. He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving from 1956 to 1960. A member of First Christian Church in Mexico, Mr. Troutt enjoyed following the University of Missouri basketball team, doing yard work, and growing gladiolas. He loved music and family trips to Branson for the shows and the singing group, Old Tunes. He was especially fond of chocolate. Mr. Troutt will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Fay; his cherished daughter, Sandra Troutt, Jefferson City; beloved sisters-in-law, Peggy Freeman, Florissant, Missouri, and May Wright, Longmont, Colorado; two special brothers-in-law who were like brothers to him, Don Wright, Longmont, Colorado, and the late Dave Freeman; numerous cousins, nieces, and one nephew. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service to follow at 4 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Beau Underwood. Burial with military honors will be 2 p.m. on Monday, January 22nd, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains, Missouri, under direction of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association, 2400 Bluff Creek Drive, Columbia, MO 65201.
