William Edward “Ed” Glawson, 81, of Holts Summit, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Ed was born on October 11, 1941, in St. James, Missouri to Norman and Willetta “Bea” (Hines) Glawson.

He was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School and attended two years of college in Kansas City.

He was united in marriage on May 13, 1989, in Westphalia, Missouri, to Genny R. (Kempker) Baker who survives.

Ed served his country with the United States Air Force from 1961-1969 during which time he served in Vietnam.  He also served in the United States Army from 1973-1994.

Following his honorable discharge from the military, Ed worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections from 1995 until his retirement in 2006.

He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit; the Moolah Shriners; past president of the Capital Shrine Club; the Fulton Masonic Lodge #48, AF & AM; the Jefferson Masonic Lodge #43 AF & AM; and the local retired military groups.

Survivors include his wife, Genny Glawson, Holts Summit; two children, Gregory (Joanne) Glawson, St. Joseph, MO; and Pamela (Robert) Glawson-Songer, Overland Park, KS; four stepchildren, Steven (Carolyn) Baker, Russellville; Ronald (Theresa) Baker, Russellville; Rebecca (Cliff) Swanson, Holts Summit; and Peggy (Jeff) Thoenen, Springfield; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Gary Gordon.

Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit.  A Masonic Service will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor L.P. Cook officiating.

Burial with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.

Memorials are suggested to Central Missouri Honor Flight, Shriners Children’s Hospital, or Union Hill Baptist Church.
