Jefferson City

Willene Alley, 74, of Jefferson City passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was born on April 15, 1949, in Springfield, MO to the late William and Beatrice (Schooley) Davidson. Growing up in Springfield, Willene was a graduate of Parkview High School.  After graduating from high school, she continued her education at Drury University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. Willene furthered her education achieving a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri.

In 1972, Willene embarked on a successful career with the State of Missouri. Her dedication and hard work were recognized when she was appointed as the Director of School Food Service. Willene's commitment to improving the lives of students through nutritious meals was unparalleled.  After more than three decades of exemplary service, Willene retired on August 31, 2004.

On February 23, 1980, Willene married Bill Alley at First United Presbyterian Church, Jefferson City. They made their home in Jefferson City, raising two sons, Austin and Curtis.  Willene was a sports enthusiast.  When the boys were young, she not only loved attending their sporting events, but helped support their teams volunteering at Booster Club events.

Outside of work, Willene enjoyed a multitude of hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. She had an insatiable appetite for reading, solving crossword puzzles, flower gardening and working out at the gym.  She was an exceptional cook and baker, taking pride in preparing mouthwatering meals and scrumptious desserts. Chocolate sheet cake was a favorite. Her Christmas cookies, shared generously with relatives and friends each year, became a cherished tradition that will be forever remembered.  She and her family always looked forward to their annual family vacations to Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Willene had a warm and caring personality that touched the lives of everyone she encountered, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil.   She was known for her boundless energy and constantly kept herself busy. At home, she lovingly took care of her family including Curtis’ dog, “Crash”.

She is survived by her husband Bill, sons, Austin (Casey), Curtis and three grandchildren Atlas, Arianna, and Axel, all of Jefferson City.  Willene was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Virginia "Ginny" Compton.

Willene's passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family and friends who were blessed to have shared their lives with such an extraordinary woman.
