Virginia Mary Taube

Virginia Mary Taube, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 20, 1933, in Wardsville, the daughter of the late Edwin Edward and Bernadine Katherine (Eichholz) Herman.

She was a 1951 graduate of California High School.

She was married on October 29, 1955 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in California to Anthony Bernard Taube, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 1, 2017.

In earlier years, Virginia worked at the California Manufacturing Company where they made jackets. She babysat for many children over the years. For twenty-five years, from 1982-2007, she was the housekeeper/cook at the Cathedral of St. Joseph Rectory.

She was an active member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph where she participated in Perpetual Adoration; Vitae; Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary; the Garment Union, and was charter member of the Rocky Valley Threshing Association. Virginia was also a charter contributor for the Proctor Park in California.

Virginia loved to fish and go camping with her husband and her family, gardening, reading westerns and dearly loved music.

Survivors include five children, Kathy (Jim) Stegeman, Jefferson City; Tony (Nancy) Taube, Columbia; Mike (Alicia) Taube, California; Ron (Jennifer) Taube, Jefferson City; and Rick (Wendy) Taube, Wardsville; ten grandchildren, Russell (LaVonda Meller) Stegeman; Matt (Angela Wathem) Stegeman; Darrell (Darla) Stegeman; Laura (Nathan) Holtmeyer; Amanda (Nic) Wagner; John Taube; Tim (Isabell) Taube; Chelsey Taube; Ashley (Joe) Hanley; and Amber Taube; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys (Jim) Hentges, St. Martins; and Carol (Jerry) Benne, St. Martins; many nieces and nephews; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and her long time friend and caregiver, Ava Cliburn, Centertown.

She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Quinn Taube; three other great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred (Brooks) Walters; and Edna Herman; and a brother, James (Nelda) Herman.

Visitation will be 9-11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Louis M. Nelen officiating. The service will be live-streamed for those who wish to watch remotely. The link can be found on Virginia’s obituary page under Tribute Wall at www.dulletrimble.com.

The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are suggested while in attendance.

Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Day Solutions Foundation or to Cathedral of St. Joseph.
