Virginia Agnes Libbert, 92, of St. Thomas, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Villa Marie Nursing Home.
She was born April 30, 1927, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Hubert Herman and Cecilia Katherine (Wieberg) Loethen.
Virginia attended St. John’s Catholic School in St. Louis, St. Thomas Catholic School, and received her LPN degree from Sister’s of St. Mary’s Nursing School.
She was united in marriage on July 3, 1946, in St. Thomas, to Wilfred John Libbert who preceded her in death on February 2, 1995.
Virginia worked in the New Born Nursery as a LPN at St. Mary’s Hospital for over 40 years, retiring May 1, 1992.
She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and church choir in St. Thomas, St. Thomas Ladies Sodality, St. Thomas Over 50 Club, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include four children, Kenny (Diane) Libbert, Fulton; Allan (Nancy) Libbert, St. Thomas; Mary Kay (Art) Hoelscher, Wardsville; Randy (Janet) Libbert, Wardsville; 10 grandchildren, Chris Libbert, Curtis Libbert, Crystal Kinsley, Paul Libbert, Jeremy Libbert, Jennifer Hagner, Phil Libbert, Kim Abbott, Gabe Hoelscher, Paige Libbert; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a granddaughter, Jackie Libbert.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with celebrant Rev. Donald J. Antweiler.
Burial will be in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School.
