VERNON PAUL LINNEMAN

Vernon Paul Linneman, 91, of Salisbury, Mo., died Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo.He was born on June 4, 1919, in Forest Green, Mo., the son of the late Emil Friedrich and Alwina Sophie Meyer Linneman.He was married on Sept. 21, 1946, in Forest Green to Letha Marie Imgarten who preceded him on March 20, 2010.Mr. Linneman grew-up on the family farm in the Chariton River bottoms and attended Vance School and Salem Lutheran School. Drafted into the United States Army in July, 1941, he served his country during World War II with the 1402d Military Police Company Aviation in the Pacific Theater until October, 1945, receiving several citations.In earlier years he was employed at the General Motors plant in Kansas City, Mo. After the war he studied photography and open Vernons Photography Studio in Salisbury. He was a school bus driver for over twenty-five years with the Salisbury Public Schools. Together with his wife, he raised registered Angus cattle and farmed the family farm for over sixty years.Mr. Linneman had a special passion for working with horses and showing American Saddle Breed Horses with his daughter, Kristin. The family and friends were especially proud of his Five-Gaited Champion Miss Glenn-o-rama trained by the late Howard Roberts and the joy she brought.He served many years as Horse Chairman for the Salisbury Fair and Horse Show and played third base for the Salisbury Merchants baseball team during their hey-day. He had a passion for old things and for going to sales and coming home with the bargain of the day.Mr. Linneman was a life-long member of Salem Lutheran Church where he served in various capacities. He was also a member of the Missouri Horseshows Association and Pony Express Horseshows Association. He enjoyed people, a good story, and made friends in many places.Survivors include one daughter, Kristin J. (Gary) Van De Velde, Jefferson City; and two grandchildren, Paige L. (Captain Dr. Joel) Brockmeyer, Evans, Ga.; and Shannon R. (Bradley) Troesser, Jefferson City; and two sisters, Amelia Imgarten and Alvina Imgarten, both of Salisbury, Mo.He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Arnold, Erich, Otis, Emil, Jr., Adolph, Orion, and Orville Linneman; and two sisters, Wilma Hartung and Irna Gesling.Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Salem Lutheran Church, Salisbury, with the Rev.
