Thomas "Wayne" Shouse, 80 years old, of Jefferson City passed away peacefully Wednesday June 26, 2019.
Wayne was born in Jefferson City to Lawrence Victor Shouse, a police officer, and Mary Louise Shouse nee McKinney, who was everything to everyone, on November 15th, 1938.
He proudly joined the US Air Force April 1959 and retired a Master Sergeant in 1982. He earned the AF Commendation Medal, AF Good Conduct Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Army Medal, AF Longevity Ribbon with 4 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze Silver Stars, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and AF Presidential Unit Citation with 1 oak leaf cluster.
After retirement he continued serving his country in the civil service.
He was a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America, a mathematical genius, a food connoisseur, wine enthusiast, amateur tour guide and lover of people - especially female people, having been married to Pamela Rose Lenox, the girls' mother, Kaye Rake mother of his first step child Kandi LaMontagne, Susie O'Bryan mother of his step sons Van O'Bryan and Tuan Tran and Cathy Miles.
He was a larger than life personality that will be missed by all who knew him.
He was father to and survived by Sindi Lu Claypool and Sherry Lynn Vaughan, Kandi LaMontagne, Van O'Bryan and Tuan Tran; grandfather to Christopher, Mishell, Vance Jr. and Jessie; great grandfather to Trey Thomas, Conner Wayne, Vance III, Lydia and miracle baby Jacqueline. He loved his children, step children and all his grandchildren and great grandchildren, but was especially close to Vance Jr and Vance III.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David Charles Shouse and grandson Thomas Victor Allen Smelser.
Please come celebrate his life on Saturday August 3rd 2019, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon. Graveside service with military honors will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
