She was born on August 30, 1929, in Campbell, MO, the daughter of Samuel Auburn and Ina Bell (Borders) Hicks.

A 1947 graduate of Campbell High School, she attended Roundsville Business College in Poplar Bluff, MO.

She was united in marriage in 1948 to Ralph Johnson who preceded her in death. She was married to Wayne Beasley in 1975 who preceded her in death in 1992. She married George Flexsenhar in 1997 and he preceded her in death in 2000.
