Ruth Rose Rockers, 80, of St. Martins, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City surrounded by her family.
She was born at home on April 19, 1939, in St. Martins, Missouri, the daughter of the late Clarence Anthony and Rose Magdalene (Ihler) Rockers.
Ruth was a graduate of the first class of Helias High School in 1957.
After graduation, Ruth taught grade school at St. Martin Catholic School for 2 years. She then worked for the Missouri Department of Revenue and later for the Missouri Department of Employment Security retiring in 1995.
She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins. Ruth was passionate about helping people in need and helping care for many of her nieces and nephews. She cherished time spent with family and friends which centered around fun and laughter. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, and crocheting.
Survivors include three siblings, Art (Judy) Rockers, St. Martins; LaVerne Tyree, St. Martins; Marcella Crocker, Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law, Julianne Rockers, St. Martins; Mary Ann Rockers, St. Martins; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clarence W. Rockers and Richard Rockers; two sisters, Martha Giesing and Dolores (Ralph) Hentges; and a brother-in-law, Freddie Crocker.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Jones officiating.
Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic Church, Heisinger Bluffs Auxiliary, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
