Rosetta Martha Foster

Rosetta Martha Foster, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospitalsurrounded by her family.

She was born September 6, 1935, in St. Elizabeth, Missouri, the daughter of Adolph H. and Theresia (Schaffer) Rehagen.

She was married on September 18, 1971, in Jefferson City to Robert “Gene” Foster who preceded her in death in 1998.

Rosetta began working for Tweedie Footwear and then worked for a local bakery.  With her husband, she later owned and operated Connie’s Restaurant, G & R Dairy Snack, Air Park Restaurant, and Isabella’s Restaurant.  Rosetta also enjoyed working as a cook for the Bolivar School District.

A woman of strong faith, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, enjoyed her daily phone calls with her sister and daughter, loved growing beautiful flowers, gardening, feeding and watching the hummingbirds, and some of her greatest joys were spending time with her family and favorite dog, Duudy.

Survivors include five children, Sandy (Dean) Poynter, Sedalia; Chuck (Michele) Wansing, Phoenix; Mary Morris, Centralia; Amy (Mike) West, Stover; David Wansing (Melissa Summers), Winfield; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Georgie Franklin, Eldon; Gerald (Phyllis) Rehagen, Meta; and Harold Rehagen, Amazonia, MO, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert “Gene” Foster; son, Mitch Wansing; grandson, Dyllan Wansing; one sister, Aggie Lively; and two brothers, Wilfred Rehagen and Virgil Rehagen.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Trimble Funeral Homes – Jefferson City.   A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tony Onyeihe officiating.

Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.
