Robert “Butch” Gilpin, 73, of Russellville passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
He was born June 26, 1950 in Belleville, MO to the late Eula Gilpin. Butch learned at an early age the value of hard work. He learned many valued skills working at several different businesses which included; Tweedie Footwear Corporation, J.C. Mattress, Florsheim Shoe Warehouse, Von Hoffman Press, Scholastic and retiring as a security guard from the Department of Family Services.
On January 22, 1972, Butch married Shirley Hutinger at the Church of God Holiness in Jefferson City. While living in Cedar City, Butch served as a volunteer fireman. He loved spending time with family with some teasing saved for the grandchildren. Butch enjoyed fishing, family camping trips and bar-b-queing. He also made the best biscuits and gravy. Woodworking was his specialty taking pride in building toy boxes for the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Russellville, five children; Tina (James) Kennedy of Lohman, Heather (Joe) Petershagen of Russellville, Rachel Reynolds of Montreal, MO, Jordan Gilpin of Columbia, Dillion Gilpin of Columbia and Dan Brown who was like a son to Butch, ten grandchildren; Rebecca (Les) Hurd, Robert (Sierra) Gessman, Carissa Gessman, Juanita, Candic and Joey Petershagen, Larry and Ryan Alderman, Krissie (Andrew) Kennedy, Jessie (Jacob) Heying and nine great grandchildren; Abby Gessman, Lillee Klebba, Wyatt and Raelynn Edwards, Copper Heying, Bella, Holden, Hayden and Ryan Hurd. Butch was preceded in death by his son, Anthony, mother, Eula Gilpin, grandmother, Ruth Gilpin and brother and sister-in-law, David and Kay Gilpin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Trimble Funeral Homes-Russellville. Visitation will continue Thursday from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Walter Gilpin and Pastor Mark Donnell officiating. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery.
