Norbert Xavier Struemph

Norbert Xavier Struemph, 95, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Oak Tree Villas. He was born April 28, 1922, in Vienna, the son of the late George and Lizetta (Falter) Struemph. He was a 1941 graduate of Vienna High School. Norbert served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Narwhal-SS167 in the Pacific Theater. He was united in marriage on November 25, 1942, in Wellston, Missouri to Phyllis Marilyn Fites, who resides at the home. They were soon to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary. Norbert began his career as a dairy farmer but in later years he worked as a carpenter and contractor. In addition, he worked for the Jefferson City Park and Recreation Department. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion, Post #5; and the Submarine Veterans Association. He loved to fish, garden, and hunt. He especially enjoyed peeling potatoes for the St. Martins Catholic Church summer picnics. Other survivors include, four sons, Norbert Paul (Virginia Vinia) Struemph, Jefferson City; William Bill (Debbie) Struemph, Bloomington, Ind; Harold Struemph, Jefferson City; George Mike (Jill) Struemph, Jefferson City; three daughters, Kathy (Charles) Eager, Blackburn; Patricia (Wayne) Andrews, Jefferson City; Mary Francis (Larry) Roberts, Jefferson City; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Loretta A. Corey, Littleton, N. H. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dean Michael Struemph and a granddaughter, Melinda Sue Struemph; brothers, Adolph H. Struemph, Clement W. Struemph, William F. Struemph, Henry B. Struemph, John W. Struemph, Edward J. Struemph; sisters, Margaret L. Woodward, Frances Rosengren, Odelia A. Hevessy, Clara Buschmann. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Monday, November 6, 2017, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis M. Nelen officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Martin Catholic Church, 7148 St. Martins Blvd, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
