Norbert Joseph Schaefer

Norbert Joseph Schaefer, 82, of Jefferson City, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born June 20, 1940, in Jefferson City, the son of Joseph and Johanna Anna (Toebben) Schaefer.

Norbert served in the United States Army.

He was united in marriage on July 27, 1968, in Westphalia, to Janet Marie Huber who survives at the home.

Norbert worked for thirty-six years as a book binder at Von Hoffman Press.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

He enjoyed camping and fishing in his earlier years.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; four children, Marsha Schaefer, Jefferson City; Darla Schaefer, Jefferson City; Pamela (Scott) Cruz, Fort Worth, Texas; and Brian Schaefer (fiancé Cindy Dudenhoeffer), Columbia; one grandson, Anthony Schaefer; and a brother-in-law, Harry Otto, Holts Summit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Dorothy (Rick) Richter; Mary Otto; Joan (Oscar) Branson; and a brother, Walter (Ruth) Schaefer.

Visitation will be 10-11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos with the Rev. Kelechi Uzuegbu officiating.  

Burial with military honors will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
