Jefferson City

Michael J. Brenneke, 69, of Jefferson City passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at Jefferson City Manor.

He was born April 1, 1954 to the late John Brenneke and Agnes (Wieberg) Brenneke of Wardsville.  Mike was a graduate of Jefferson City High School.  He worked at ABB for over 40 years before retiring.  While at ABB Mike took great pride in being a team leader and treasurer for United Auto Workers.   Since his father was a veteran of WWII, Mike became interested in researching history on past wars.  In his younger years, Mike enjoyed water skiing, ice-skating and going to the races.  His real passion was for Crappie fishing.  He always looked forward to the fishing trips floating down the Gasconade with family and friends. Mike was a member of Elk’s Lodge #513 and loved connecting with his many friends.

Survivors include his mother, Agnes of Wardsville, son, Brandon (Fiance-Rachel Martensen) Brenneke of Jefferson City, grandson, Brenden, two sisters, Michelle (Curt) Kliethermes of Linn, Linda (Bryan) Wyss of Vienna and brother-in-law, Mark Lane of Loose Creek.  Mike was preceded in death by his father, son, Johnathan and sister, Marla Lane.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Dr. Jefferson City.  A Celebration of Mike’s Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Robert Schowengerdt officiating.  Burial will be in McGirk Cemetery.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Phoenix Hospice for the care and kindness they gave Mike and our family.
