Marcella Clara Hodge

April 10, 1939 — February 17, 2017

Marcella Clara Hodge, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017, surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born April 10, 1939, at home in Vienna, Mo., the daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (Zimmer) Bocklage. She was a graduate of Maries R-1 High School in Vienna. She was united in marriage on November 18, 1961, at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna to George William Hodge, who preceded her in death on November 14, 2014. Marcella was a homemaker for most of her life and worked for Quaker Windows, Freeburg, Mo., as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed baking, reading, gardening, sewing, and traveling. Particularly, she loved the annual family trips across the nation to places such as the Wisconsin Dells, Smokey Mountains and Gulf Coast, her favorite. Marcella delighted in sharing her love of the beach with grandchildren, sunbathing, splashing in the surf and picnicking. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan through championship seasons and disappointments. Marcella appreciated all living things, plants and pets, and nurtured them with love. Above all, Marcella's greatest love and passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She made every holidaymemorable, especially Christmas, with her special touch. Birthdays brought all family members to her home, no matter the distance, where everyone celebrated being together. Survivors include five children: Eric Hodge, Brian Hodge, Sheila (Ron) Logan, Cindy (Bill) Wibberg, Teri (Chad) Tillinghast, all of Jefferson City; and six grandchildren: Payton Logan, Devyn Logan, William Wibberg, II, Riley Wibberg, Trent Tillinghast, and Samuel Tillinghast; four siblings: Agnes Stratman, Jefferson City; Alvin (Betty) Bocklage, Westphalia; Irene Feeler, Granite City, Ill.; Charles (Helen) Bocklage, Valley Park; and one sister-in-law, Jackie Bocklage, Freeburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Lucille Ready and Mary Stratman; and two brothers, William "Billy" Bocklage and Ambrose Bocklage. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Father Gregory C. Meystrik officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
