Maizie Lee Jones, 76, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, at her residence. She was born July 26, 1941, in Rector, Arkansas, the youngest child of the late Claude Alexander and Roxie Ann (Herndon) Norman. She graduated from Greenway High School in Greenway, Arkansas. On September 10, 1959, she was united in marriage at the Dix Road Church of Christ in Jefferson City to Leo Allen Jones, who preceded her in death on January 29, 2014. They had celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage. Maizie was a devoted wife, loving sister, beloved aunt and friend. She spent her young married life as the wife of a career Naval Seaman, traveling with him to different ports. After her husband retired from military service, she went to work at Unilever until her retirement. She was a faithful member of Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ and devoted herself to the care of her mother-in-law and husband during their lengthy illnesses. Although she had no children of her own, she enjoyed her many nieces and nephews. She especially was grateful to Shawn and Julie Lunceford for their care and kindness they bestowed on her over the past years. Survivors include three sisters, Louise Smith, Holts Summit; Betty Smith, Jefferson City; and Lula Faye (Carl) Swartz, Highspire, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Norman, JC Norman, Glen Norman, Claude Jr Norman; and three sisters, Stella Stoddard, Thelma Seay, and Beneda Pearson. A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ with Brent Newton and Carey Terry officiating. Interment will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ, 1316 Fairgrounds Road, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109.
