Lorene Ethel Wheeler

Lorene Ethel Wheeler, 63, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

She was born October 25, 1957, in California, Missouri, the daughter of the late Van Gerald and Mary Annie (Nelson) Roland.

She was united in marriage on July 1, 1988, in Sedalia to Rev. James Leon Wheeler, Sr. who survives at the home.

Lorene worked as a seamstress for the pant manufacturing plant in Tipton and was ordained in 2003 as a Deaconess Clergy.

Lorene and her husband, Rev. James, were former members of the Church of God in Tennessee and North Carolina. They joined Second Baptist Church in Jefferson City in 2010. Lorene’s activities at Second Baptist Church include member of Deaconess Board, Women’s Missionary Committee, Youth Missions, and the Women’s Choir.

She was a member and served as Chaplain for the Military Officers Association of America, VFW Auxiliary Post 1003 and DAV Auxiliary. She was a member of the Missouri Baptist Central District Association where she served with the Women’s Auxiliary, Historical Records Chairwomen, Women’s Mission, and the Minister and Wives Committee. She also served as a member and volunteer with the Jefferson City Juneteenth LLC.

Lorene enjoyed bowling, traveling, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family and church family.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. James Wheeler, Sr., Jefferson City; six children, Cornelius (Lisa) Roland, Shelanda Roland Cartron, Michael Roland, James (Carrissa) Wheeler, Jr., Monica Wheeler Walton; ten grandchildren, Jacei Roland, Aubrei Roland, Kocei Roland, naTasha Williams, neKesha Williams, Jessica Carton, Travis Carton, Amanda Johnson, Amia Walton, Xavier Wheeler; four great-grandchildren Asyton Lee, plus three new additions and eight siblings, Samuel Wright, Walter Wright, Van Roland, Jr., Johnny Wright, Louise Wright, Clara Belle Roland, Estella Wright, Hazel Wright.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Harold Kenneth Wheeler; several siblings.

She leaves also many nieces and nephews, friends and other family members to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

A Deaconess service tribute will be held with the funeral service at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Rev. Cornell C. Sudduth, Sr. officiating. A graveside service will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia.
