Leona Elizabeth “Lee” Neutzler, 94, of Jefferson City, passed away, Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the Valley Park Retirement Center, in Holts Summit, with her special cousin Mary Ann, and friend Donna, by her side

She was born June 8, 1928, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Maximillian Paul and Amelia Matilda (Wachter) Neutzler.

Lee attended kindergarten at the former Broadway School. She attended St. Peter Grade School and graduated in 1946 from St. Peter High School.

She was employed locally for thirteen years as state office secretary for American Farmers Mutual Insurance Company (Kemper Insurance), then transferring to Kemper Insurance Company in Chicago for two years as executive secretary to the Senior Vice- President.

Upon her return to Jefferson City, Lee enrolled in the first Real Estate Course offered at Capital Business College and received her Broker’s License. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Olivetti-Underwood Corporation, Check Office Equipment Company, and L & M Printing & Office Supply. Lee retired from Ewers Tires.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit, where she counted money weekly for thirteen years, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 5, Friends of the Missouri State Archives, Historic City of Jefferson, Cole County Historic Society, AARP, and served as treasurer for two years for Learning in Retirement.

Lee spent years doing genealogy research, loved to dance, especially the jitterbug and square dancing in her earlier years, attending plays, doing crossword puzzles, and enjoyed weekly bowling with seniors.

Over the years, Lee has taken care of oodles of unclaimed cats, as well as nightly feedings of racoons, and daily bird feedings.

Lee’s family include parents, Max and Amelia (Wachter) Neutzler (deceased); sister, Lucille (Vic, deceased) Kampeter, Jefferson City; brother, Tony (Jean) Neutzler (deceased); nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Vic) Buechter, Jefferson City; Sharon (Leroy) Wilde, Wardsville; Gary (Kathy) Neutzler, Kerrville, Texas; Lynn Stryker, Houston, Texas; Jay (Ella) Neutzler, New Braunfels, Texas; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kristan (Jamie) Morris, and Daniel, Nick and Owen; Craig (Heather) Buechter, and Abigail, Madison and baby girl due early August; Curt (Heather) Buechter, and Ben, Joseph, and Alexis; Guinevere (Scott) Patterson, and Skyler; and Hillary (Justin) B’Jan Taghi.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with the Rev. Roberto M. Ike officiating.

Burial will be in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are suggested to St. Andrew Catholic Church, or to Callaway Hills Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 35, New Bloomfield, Missouri 65063.
