Larry Bernard Shoop

Larry Bernard Shoop, age 73, made his transition Saturday, February 11, 2023.

He was born August 23, 1949 in Jefferson City to the late Christiane and Raymond Shoop Jr.

Larry received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and completed training in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology.  Larry worked for the Army as a civilian Radiologic Technician for 30 years.  His work in the field occurred at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, Aurora, CO, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX and Fort Benning, GA. 

Larry enjoyed camping, hiking and caring for his many beloved cats and dogs.  He also had a great interest in watching and reading about trains.  Larry was a member of Unity Church of Peace, Jefferson City.  His life was filled with caring and kindness for others.  A friend wrote: “It is easy to see your goodness, your Godliness as you touch lives.”

He is survived by cousins, Charlet Quay, Jenny Lago, Mary Garzee, Howard Kirby and Jeanine Riss.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Unity Church of Peace, 5402 Bus. 50 #2, Jefferson City.  Private interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
