Larry Robert Hoback, Sr.

Larry R. Hoback, Sr. 78, of California, Mo passed away peacefully, at home, on April 23, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born on May 16, 1945, in Jamestown, Mo to Hubert Dearing and Dortha Austella (Fahrni) Hoback.

Larry was united in marriage on October 26, 2006, to the love of his life Betsy Allen who survives of the home.

He attended 1st-3rd grade at Kramer and attended Jamestown until his junior year of school. Then the family moved to California, where he completed high school and graduated in 1963. Larry attended the University of Missouri Columbia and studied Animal Husbandry.

He was a member of High Point Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, was Sunday School Director for many years and an active member wherever needed.

He managed MFA Cooperative, California and retired after 20 years of service. Larry joined his son Bob in the fencing business and built Hoback Fence in 1995. Larry doing the residential and Bob the farm fence. He retired in 2014. Larry was a founding member of High Point Renewal Association, the R. H. Denker Scholarship Fund and served as president of the High Point Cemetery Association.

Through this long battle, Larry never lost sight of his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. He would say” I don’t really know what Heaven will be like, but I know it will be wonderful.” He was known for his calm demeanor, his love of his family, and his belief that everyone is basically good. He guided many young people to become good adults through his work ethic, honesty, willingness to give them a chance, and his unwavering love of God. Larry was always ready to travel, enjoyed gardening, woodworking (his favorite thing was cutting boards, which he gave away freely) and playing pitch with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Betsy; one son, Bob (Miranda) Hoback of California; stepchildren, Debbie Zucca, Tina (Mike) Donohue, Jeff (Jill) Hanes, Mark Hanes; three grandchildren, Emma Hoback, Lydia Hoback and Kloe Hoback.: 10 step-grandchildren: Tabitha, Charlie, Kari, Ben, Colleen, Katie, Spencer, Tucker, Donavin and Matayah; siblings, Marylin Durk, Jim (Irene) Hoback; and sisters-in-law, Vicki Hoback and Beverly Perrin.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents. Siblings, Dennis Hoback, Betty Rose Bickel, Phillis Walters.

Visitation will be 9-11 am. Monday, April 29, 2024, High Point Baptist Church in High Point with a funeral service beginning at 11.00 am. with Pastor Glen Golden and Pastor Hebert Mena officiating.

 A private family burial will take place at High Point Cemetery.

 Memorials are suggested to R. H. Denker Scholarship Fund, High Point Cemetery Association or to High Point Baptist Church
