Larry Dean Volkart

Larry Dean Volkart, 70, of Russellville, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 1, 1949, on the family farm in Russellville, the son of Dean Mitchell and Verna Mae (Hall) Volkart.

Larry was a 1967 graduate of Russellville High School.

He served his country in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War.

He was united in marriage on February 18, 1983, at Mt Olive Baptist Church in Russellville to Lynn Revae Steenbergen, who survives at the home.

Larry spent most of his career in construction as a carpenter working for various companies.

He was a member of Russellville United Methodist Church and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church with his wife. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and basketball. His greatest love was his family especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Revae Volkart, Russellville; his mother, Verna Volkart, California; his three children, Kelli (Ray) Wakeley, Carl Junction, MO; Kristi Volkart (Chad Sturgeon), Carthage, MO; Cory (Beth) Volkart, Russellville; seven grandchildren, Kyle Wakeley, Rose Wakeley, Kelsi McCracken, Kyson Sturgeon, Shyann Sturgeon, Ellie Adamski, Adelyn Volkart; six siblings, Connie (Larry) Lovett, California; Mike (Kathy) Volkart, Russellville; Vicky (Steve) Hees, Jamestown; Duane (Tammy) Volkart, Russellville; Terry (Cindy) Volkart, California; Kathy (Kenny) Dean, Centertown; God-Child, McKendra Fischer; and two special buddies, Blake and Brent Steenburgen.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Volkart.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Earls officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Enloe Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Mt. Olive Baptist Church or to Enloe Cemetery.

Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville is in charge of the arrangements.
