Jefferson City

June Ann Beltzer Bruner, 82, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully at Heisinger Bluffs on May 28, 2023.

She was born on January 19, 1941, in Kirksville, Missouri to Glen Manning Beltzer and Iva Murl (Harris) Beltzer.

Graduating from Kirksville High School in 1959, she went on to Truman State University, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree.

In 1977, June received a Master's degree in Education from Central Missouri State University. After teaching in Hermann, Missouri for two years, she began teaching in Eldon, Missouri, serving as a social studies teacher, high school guidance counselor, and eventually as an Assistant Superintendent in the Eldon R-1 School District in charge of curriculum development, for a total of 34 years before retiring and relocating to Jefferson City. She was respected and valued by her colleagues, and will be remembered for her dedication to education.

June was a member of many professional and civic organizations including Delta Kappa Gamma, Missouri School Counselor Association and both Missouri and National Associations of School Administrators, along with her membership in the Missouri and National Associations of Supervision and Curriculum Development. She was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association and the Eldon Classroom Teachers Association. She was the first woman to be inducted into the Eldon Lions Club.

A woman with many passions and interests, June enjoyed gathering with her coffee group, and loved anything related to water sports: skiing, trout fishing, guiding a catamaran on the Lake of the Ozarks.  Traveling was also a great hobby of hers. She was an avid reader and always had a book close by.

June valued deep friendships, and dear to her heart were the many friends she met along the way, from elementary school in Kirksville through her time in Eldon and Jefferson City. So many became lifelong friends she treasured greatly.

While living in Eldon, June was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After to moving to Jefferson City, she was a dedicated and active member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph parish.

She is survived by her sister Judy (Robert) Bradley, Jefferson City; sister-in-law Rev. Patsy Beltzer, Dallas, TX; nieces, Dr. Anne Bradley, Debbie Miller, Jennifer (Brad) Smith, and Susan (Stephen) Hicks; as well as nephews, Sean (Beth) Bradley, Brian (Gina) Bradley, Michael Bradley (Skya Boudousquie), and Greg (Amy) Beltzer. June also leaves behind eight great nieces and nephews and a lifetime of many devoted friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Iva Beltzer, and her brother, Ben J Beltzer.
