Joyce Mary Steuber

Joyce Mary Steuber, 86, of Holts Summit, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Oak Tree Villas surrounded by her family.

She was born May 23, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Clemence Harry and Mary Margaret (Porter) O’Connell.

She was united in marriage on January 7, 1956, in Webster Groves, Missouri to Thomas Michael Steuber who survives at their home.

Joyce was a loving homemaker.  Together with her husband Tim, raised nine children in Jefferson City, working hard to send all nine through Catholic School.  Her faith was a beacon of light in her life.  She worked for Brown Shoe Company, Ramada Inn, Busch’s Florist, Chesebrough Ponds, and House of Bargains.

She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit.  She was an avid seamstress and quilter, participating in the quilting group at Rooster Creek Shop.  She enjoyed gardening and was a colossal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

Joyce had a lust for life and vivacious love for children, babies in particular. 

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Steuber, Holts Summit; nine children, Tim (Jackie)Steuber, Jefferson City; Kathi (Paul) Rost, Niwot, CO; Janis (Jim) Kennedy, St. Louis; Michael (Shijeko) Steuber, Hawaii; Mary Paden-Otto, Jefferson City; Angie (Scott)Mahon, Englewood, CO; Pat (Cindy) Steuber, Columbia, MO; Colleen (Greg) Backers, Jefferson City; Will (Dajia) Steuber, Jenkintown, PA; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Janis Busch, St. Louis; Dan (Nancy) O’Connell, Florida; Margaret Benton, Florida; Susie (Larry) Koeppen, Liberty, MO; and a brother-in-law, Dave Castillon, Mt. Vernon, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandchild, Peyton Boeckman; a sister, JoAnne Castillon; and two brothers- in-law, Bob Busch and Art Benton.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with the Rev. Roberto M. Ike officiating.

Burial will be in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
