John Alvis Bell, 87, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, October 23, 2011, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born on April 7, 1924, in Van Buren, Mo, the son of the late Joseph Philip and Lona Mae Dawson Bell.
He was united in marriage on October 30, 1965, in Loose Creek, to Mary Louise Rackers who survives at the home.
John was employed with Von Hoffman Press as a bookbinder.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and traveling.
Other survivors include: four siblings, Tom Bell, Huntsville, Mo; Myrtle Warren, Imperial, Mo; Nellie Warren, St. Louis; Wanda Yates, Wichita, KS; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Rackers, Bonnots Mill; Donald (Grace) Rackers, Bonnots Mill; two sisters-in-law, Rosella Rackers, Bonnots Mill; Patricia (Darrell) Bracher, Tebbetts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles, Bill, Emory, and Rink Bell; and two sisters: Lucille Bell and Dolly Bell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jefferson City, with the Rev. Dylan Schrader, officiating.
Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Loose Creek.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
