John Allen Wansing 77, of Wardsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.
He was born December 28, 1942, in Meta, Missouri, the son of the late Anton “Tony” and Norine (Kleffner) Wansing.
John was a 1960 graduate of Helias High School and a longtime resident of Wardsville.
He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was married on September 18, 1965, in Rapid City, South Dakota to Carol R. Moss who preceded him in death on September 19, 2002.
John retired November of 2001 as a Network Engineer with Sprint Telephone (formerly United Telephone Co.) with 36 years of service.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville, past President of the Wardsville Lions Club, member of the American Legion, and was a Golden Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and sharing his bountiful harvest with family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, and fixing broken things (a true do-it-yourselfer).
Survivors include three sons, John Wansing, Jr., Aurora, CO; Anthony “Tony” Wansing, Jefferson City; Kevin Wansing, Jefferson City; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Yovetta Werner and Nancy Luebbert, both of Jefferson City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Gary Wansing.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2020, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m. officiated by the Rev. I.C. Medina.
Graveside service with military honors will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Wardsville.
The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are encouraged while in attendance.
