Joanne Helen Falter, 62, of Westphalia, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at Westphalia Hills.

She was born July 6, 1956, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Vincent Richard and Mathilda Josephine (Haslag) Sommers.

Joanne was a 1974 graduate of Blair Oaks High School.

She was united in marriage on October 25, 1975, in Wardsville to Stephen R. Falter who survives at the home.

Joanne worked for the Division of Design and Construction for the State of Missouri as a Contract Specialist for 31 years retiring in 2005. From 2005-2010 she worked for R-3 Preschool in Westphalia. She then worked for Legends Bank from 2010-2017.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching Blair Oaks Football.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen Falter, Westphalia; four siblings, Rosie Schaefer, Florissant; Betty (Lowell) Ginter, Jefferson City; Eddie (Rosetta) Sommers, Jefferson City; Gary (Linda) Sommers, Jefferson City; 21 nieces and 7 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jason Paul Falter; one brother, Richard Sommers; a brother-in-law, Robert Schaefer; and her father and mother-in-law, John and Marie Falter.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with a Rosary recited at 2:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Anthony J. Viviano and Rev. James Finder concelebrating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
