Jerome “Jerry” John Luebbert, 75, of Taos, MO passed away peacefully Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 10, 1948, in Jefferson City, MO to George & Frances (Sandt) Luebbert.
He was married on June 26, 1971, to the love of his life, Catherine (Cathy) Luebbert, who fought alongside him in his battle with Alzheimer’s and who survives at home.
Jerry is a 1966 graduate of Fatima High School, Westphalia.
He served in the Vietnam War from May 1968 to May of 1970 in the 86th Battalion attached to the 9th Infantry Division. Jerry was honored with two purple hearts and several additional army accommodations.
He was a member of Pipefitters Local Union 562 from 1967 until his retirement from Environmental Engineering of Jefferson City in 2003. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos.
Jerry was known for his boisterous laugh, a mischievous smile and was a friend to all. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, motorcycles, camping and cruising on the river. They enjoyed winters in Florida and traveling with friends.
In their 52 years of marriage, they were gifted with five children. Tina Louise (Mike) Hagenhoff, Jason Jerome Luebbert (Cheryl), Dana Lynn (Matt) Stuecken and Connie Jo Luebbert (Chris). He and Cathy were blessed with eight grandchildren, Eugene & Dean Hagenhoff, Kaylin Luebbert, Ethan & Emma Stuecken and Dylan, Devin & Cannon Limbach. He was honored to grow up with his siblings: Donnie (Peggy) Luebbert, Roger (Glenda) Luebbert, Kathy (Jim) Haaf and his “squirt” Jane (Buddy) Haslag. In marriage he gained an additional family including Willie (Virgil) Borgmeyer, Fred (Eileen) Luebbert, Betty (Art) Lederman, and Art Luebbert. He was loved by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter Sandy Ann Luebbert; his parents; his father and mother-in-law, William and Louise Luebbert; and brothers-in-law, Emil, Bernie and Joe Luebbert.
A prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2023 with visitation to follow till 5 p.m. at Trimble Funeral Homes – Westphalia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon Monday, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos with the Rev. Kelechi Uzuebbu and the Rev. I.C. Medina concelebrating.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
