Janette Rubye Holmes Rains

Janette Rubye Holmes Rains, 83, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born May 1, 1935, in Shawnetown, Missouri, the daughter of the late Ralph Alex and Rubye Glenda (Bonney) Holmes. She was united in marriage on June 24, 1966, to Gary Dale Rains in Kankakee, Illinois. Gary preceded her in death on July 12, 1985. Janette worked for 25 years at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois as a ward clerk. Her adult life was spent in Channohon, Illinois. After retirement, Janette made Lebanon, Missouri her home. She enjoyed traveling, outdoor activities, and caring for her pets. Janette was a kind and loving wife, sister, and aunt. She is survived by two sisters, Margie G. Ward, Jefferson City; Barbara Jean (Joe) Seabaugh, Clinton, Missouri; twelve nieces and nephews; and two step-daughters, Pam (Henry) Cordia, Phoenix, Arizona; and Melissa Rains Eastman, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother-in-law, Dr. W. J. Ward; niece, Glenda Seabaugh; nephew, Garry Seabaugh; great-niece, Natalie Seabaugh; and step-daughter, Vanessa Flowers. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Towns officiating. Burial will be in Apple Creek Cemetery, Pocahontas, Missouri.
