James Herman Owen, II, 75, of Wardsville, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, at his residence.
He was born February 8, 1942, in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of the late James Herman and Nellwyn Jane (Ford) Owen.
James graduated in 1960, from Longview High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech University in 1966, and received his Ph.D. from University of Texas at Austin in 1973.
James worked for over 23 years with DuPont in various positions including research chemist, explosives engineering, and marketing specialist. He later worked as a Child Support Investigator for the State of Missouri from 2000-2009.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Longview, Texas, Sigma Chi, Sigma Xi, American Chemical Society, Master Mason, National Rifle Association, and the United Sportsmens Club. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include two daughters, Margret (Thomas) Burns, Nashville, TN; Karen (Allen) Chaney, Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Owen Burns and Zara Burns; and one sister, Linda (Roy) Mayfield, Dallas, TX.
Private family services will be held.
