Hermie Villanueva Mendoza

October 23, 1938 — January 2, 2020

Hermie Villanueva Mendoza, 81, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was born October 23, 1938, in Butuan City, Philippines, the daughter of the late Hilarion and Ana (Montilla) Villanueva.

She was united in marriage on October 24, 1959, in Butuan City, Philippines to Salvador Mendoza who preceded her in death on June 12, 1985.

Hermie worked for many years as an accountant for the Ministry of Health in Manila, Philippines. After she moved with family to the United States, she worked as a care giver.

She is a God fearing mother, who love the Lord dearly, who love and treasure every word of the Lord Jesus Christ. Even to her severe pain, she's singing to her Lord Jesus Christ, and praying unceasingly to the Lord. Her worn-out bible with notes and highlights on every page testifies her love to the word. One on her bible notes is 1 Corinthians 13:3 “If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing”.

She is a humble sweet and kind woman, loving and selfless mother. Selfless, that she sacrifices leaving her 7 children(with 3 years old her youngest child at that time), so she could support her family and give them a better future. She seek for a greener pasture here in united states, giving care to the elderly as a means to support her kids. Sending almost everything what she have to her children back home in Philippines.

She was a member of Concord Baptist Church. She enjoyed her daily readings of the Bible, listening to Christian music, crocheting, watching Filipino soap opera TV channels, and playing word puzzles.

Survivors include seven children, Ruby M (Perry) Zervas, Arizona; Riza M (Elmer) Podadera, State of California; Rena M(Eric) Bartolo, Philippines; Rio Gabriel (Ruth) Mendoza, State of California; Rony Mendoza, Jefferson City; Ryan M(Reinhard) Ang, Jefferson City; Kristian Grace Mendoza, State of California; nine grandchildren Marco (Denise), Timothy (Jessica), Rizel, Herub (Nico), Joseph, Kaira, Celine, Tristan & Rihanna ; two great-grandchildren TJ & Erin; and two siblings, Januario Villanueva and Carlito Villanueva.

A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020, 3 p.m. at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
