Harry Friemonth Cook

Harry Friemonth Cook, 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 16, 1928, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of the late Henry Herman Harry Cook and Pauline A.(Friemonth) Cook. Harry graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1946 and received his bachelors degree in business from the University of Missouri in 1951. He then went into the United States Army, serving at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was united in marriage on February 23, 1952, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Helen Schnieders, who survives at the home. Harry was employed by Macys in Kansas City and later with Montgomery Ward as a district merchandising manager. After retiring in 1985, he owned and operated Harmony Antiques. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, refinishing furniture, and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family where he and Helen lived for more than twenty years. They were members of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton. In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by eight children: Janet Cook, Hutchinson, KS; Gary Cook, Kansas City, MO; Tom (Nancy) Cook, New Orleans, LA; Dave (Lisa) Cook, Boone, IA; Cherie Cook, Jefferson City; Stephanie Argie, Raymore, MO; Doug (Annette) Cook, Overland Park, KS; and Dan (Lijun) Cook, Tampa, FL. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Justin Prowell, Bryan Prowell, Elizabeth (Russell) Lapeze, Hallie (Trevor) VanRoekel, Claire Cook, Jennifer Cook, Austin Cook, Christian Cook, Alexander Argie, Spencer Cook, Rachel Argie, Amy Cook, Mari Cook, Grayson Cook, Dylan Cook and two great-grandchildren, Isabella Prowell and Catherine Lapeze. He is also survived by in-laws Madalyn and Norm Doering, Jack and Shirley Schnieders, Don and Ruth Ann Schnieders, Mitzi Linsenbardt, and Shirley Andrews. He was preceded in death by in-laws Edgar Schnieders, Chuck Hooker, Stanley and Betty Schnieders, Sister Evlyn Schnieders O.F.M., Robert Linsenbardt, and Don Andrews. The family wishes to thank Harrys faithful caregivers from Bee at Home and Hospice Compassus for their loving support, care, and guidance. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Joshua Duncan celebrating. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Vitae Foundation, 1731 Southridge Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
