Jefferson City

Glenn Steven Knaebel, 43, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

He was born January 28, 1980, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Steven and Jane (Fick) Knaebel.  Glenn was a 1998 graduate of Helias Catholic High School.  While following his sister's high school softball career, Glenn developed a love for the game.  He was head coach for the Missouri Madness traveling team and went on to become involved with the collegiate level girls’ softball programs at Lincoln University, Saint Louis University and Lindenwood University.  During his softball coaching career, Glenn was a mentor to his players and strived to make a positive impact in their lives.  When Glenn came back to the Jefferson City area, he worked for the family business, Mid Missouri Surfaces.

Glenn had a kind spot for helping others - always offering to provide food, clothing & shelter to his friends in need.  Glenn loved Christmas and all the decorations that went with the season.  If he ever had free time, you would find him fishing at the river or tending to his flower gardens.  He will always be remembered for his compassion for others and his fun, outgoing yet calm personality.

Glenn is survived by his parents, Steven and Jane of Jefferson City, brother Garret of Wardsville, sister Gail (Marvin) Knaebel-Dagg of The Woodlands, Texas, and their children, Wyatt, Raegan (Glenn’s goddaughter), Wynne and Finley, paternal grandmother, Anna Knaebel of Jefferson City and Glenn’s special friend, Christine Lambert and her daughter, Samantha.  Glenn was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Francis Knaebel, maternal grandparents, Arthur and Louise Fick and an aunt, Therese (Loaiza) Fick.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos.  The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kelechi Uzuebbu officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
