Gertrude Pauline Strobel

Gertrude Pauline Strobel, 96, of Lohman, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at her residence.

She was born February 29, 1924, in Lohman, the daughter of the late Alfred and Antonia (Michael) Raithel.

Gert was a 1943 graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia.

She was united in marriage on June 24, 1967, in Lohman, to Hugo Albert Strobel who preceded her in death on September 23, 2012.

Gert worked for Metropolitan Life as a bookkeeper and eventually retied in 1981 as assistant office manager. After retirement, she become the City Clerk for Lohman until 1993. She was a member of the La Vida chapter of the American Business Women’s Association in Jefferson City, where she served as the first president. She was named the Chapter’s 1956 American Business Woman of the Year.

Gert was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lohman where she served as the church organist since 1946. She considered playing the organ an integral part of her life. She also edited the church’s newsletter for over 50 years. In 2001, the church named Gert and her husband, Hugo, Volunteers of the Year.

Gert is survived by her nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugo Strobel; and her twin sisters, Marvelia and Mary Raithel.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lohman.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor David Viles officiating. The service can be viewed on the St. Paul’s Facebook page for those who wish to join the family in spirit. (https://www.facebook.com/StPaulsChurchOnTheHill)

Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

The general public is welcome to attend services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are encouraged while in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery or Church.

Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville is in charge of the arrangements.
