Fred Martin Szabados, Jr.

Fred Szabados, Jr., 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021, at Oak Tree Villas.

Fred was a first generation American, born March 17, 1932 in Bloomington, Illinois. He was the oldest child of Fred and Leona Oesch Szabados. He grew up in central Illinois and spent his entire life in the Midwest. While in high school in Peoria, Illinois Fred proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Bradley University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1956 and worked for several companies throughout his career. He retired from Johnson Controls, Inc. in Jefferson City in 2006.

Fred was united in marriage on July17, 1993, in Jefferson City, to Jane Alberta Franken Luebbert.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Fred and Jane’s home overlooked the Missouri River. He loved watching the eagles especially when they sat in the tree in his backyard. Fred was very proud of his home and took great pride in keeping it beautiful. He traveled frequently for business and when he retired he was content to enjoy life and relax at home.

Fred was a quiet man, who loved to sit back and observe rather than be the center of attention. He was a good listener and was willing to share his knowledge and experience. His joy came from his family; watching them achieve their goals and taking pride in their success.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Jane Szabados; four children, Marcia Szabados (Erik) Reisdorf; Eric Luebbert; Chad Luebbert (Ricarda Ganjam); Brad (Sarah) Luebbert; six grandchildren, Matthew Reisdorf, Katie Reisdorf, Sidney Luebbert, Sophia Luebbert, Skylar Luebbert, Maddy Luebbert; and two siblings, Marilyn (George) Hineman; and Delverna Woolard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Marvin Szabados.

Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev Donald Antweiler officiating. The service will be live streamed for those who wish to watch from home. The link can be found on Fred’s obituary page under Tribute Wall at www.dulletrimble.com. The family is requiring that all guests attending services wear a mask. If you are uncomfortable doing so, please send your prayers only.

Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery at a later date.
