Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Bernskoetter, 81, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at St. Joseph Bluffs.
She was born December 2, 1938, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Emil Albert and Rosanna M. (Taube) Wolters.
Betty was a 1956 graduate of St. Peter High School.
She was united in marriage on September 1, 1956, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Wilfrid Edward Bernskoetter who preceded her in death on June 10, 2019.
Betty worked with her husband at Wilfrid Bernskoetter Plumbing as the bookkeeper and also worked for Scholastic Inc. for over 20 years until her retirement.
Betty was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Immaculata Club Madonna Chapter, DAV Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and a past President of the Missouri Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading, ceramics, embroidery, and spending time at the cabin on the Osage. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and was also known as “Mom” to many. There was always room at her table for her many “adopted” kids.
Survivors include nine children, Ron (Amy) Bernskoetter, Jefferson City; Cathy (Ray) Thompson, Chapin, SC; Mike (Velma) Bernskoetter, Wardsville; Steven (Linda) Bernskoetter, Jefferson City; Carol (Rick) Harris, Wardsville; Diana Bernskoetter (Duane Harris), Jefferson City; Greg (Janell) Bernskoetter, Jefferson City; Julie (Rick) Prather, Jefferson City; Sarah (Jacob) Jones, Jefferson City; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Emily (Vern) Scheulen, Jefferson City; Don (Cathy) Wolters, Jefferson City; Kenny (Alice) Wolters, Holts Summit; and a sister-in-law, Georgene Bernskoetter, Taos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Gary Bernskoetter.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Donald Antweiler officiating. The service will be live streamed for those who wish to watch from home. The link can be found on Betty’s obituary page at www.dulletrimble.com.
The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are required while in attendance.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
