Delmar Russell Brown, 84, of Jefferson City, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital.
He was born January 12, 1939, in Gasconade, Missouri, the son of Orville and Jewell (Staley) Brown.
Delmar served in the United States Marine Corps.
He was united in marriage on August 6, 1960, in Linn, Missouri to Catherine L. Maxey who survives at the home.
Delmar was a carpenter for thirty years with the Carpenter 945 Local, retiring in 2000. He was also a commercial fisherman on the Missouri River.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Eagles Club, and CB Club.
He enjoyed fishing and making his own hoop nets, woodworking, and in earlier years he loved to hunt.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; four children, Gary Brown, Jefferson City; Sandra Brown (Chris Switzer) Jefferson City; Ron (Cindy) Brown, Jefferson City; and Sheila (Mike) Howlett, Rocky Mount, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Nathan (Holly) Iven, Chad Hill, Devin (Beth) Hartzler, Zachary Brown, Shelby Hartzler, Megan Brown, Mikayla Brown, Billy Lewis, and Jessica Lewis; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda (George) Armstrong, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Susan Hill, and Shelly Hartzler, and two brothers, Joe Brandt, and John Brandt.
Visitation will be 9-10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, at St. Peter Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, VG officiating.
Burial with military honors will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans.
