Darrell Anthony Rehagen

February 3, 1957 — November 24, 2018

Darrell Anthony Rehagen, 61, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018.

He was born February 3, 1957, in Jefferson City, the son of Arnold Michael and Juli Ann (Dusheke) Rehagen.

Darrell was a 1973 graduate of Vogelweid Learning Center. He attended and participated in the work study program at Jefferson City High School graduating in 1976.

Darrell was employed at Capital Best Western Restaurant (1976-1989) and Capitol Projects (1990-2010). For the past 15 years, Darrell lived in a Cole County Residential Services group home where he made several close friends among staff and residents.

Darrell was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the St. Peter Holy Name Society. Darrell enjoyed bowling in the Monday Night League for over 30 years until the present. He played basketball and softball for many years with the Special Olympics of Missouri. He attended Friday Night Rec Activities with the Parks and Recreation. He was a Boy Scout in his younger years.

Darrell was a huge country western music fan, traveling to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville whenever he could with his father, mother, brother Mike and other family members. Darrell was also an avid Helias Crusaders and Notre Dame sports fan, never missing a Helias football game or boys basketball game for many seasons with his father. He attended Notre Dame football games and basketball games as often as possible. He enjoyed talking sports with anyone. Darrell loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, the St. Louis Football Cardinals, and the St. Louis Rams. He truly enjoyed working the St. Peter Holy Name Pancake breakfasts, becoming close friends with the likes of Bob Mehmert and Roger Stokes. He enjoyed working for Dale and Larry Gerstner, who gave him his first job at the Capital Best Western Restaurant. In the end, he developed a close friendship with CCRS staff person, Ed Carter. We will all miss the passion that Darrell exhibited in everything he enjoyed. Darrell, may all the Angels lead you into paradise where there is a complete understanding of everything.
