Catherine Christina Holtkamp, 99, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Summit Villa of Holt Summit, Missouri. She was born May 26, 1916, in Martinsburg, Missouri, the daughter of the late Gerhard and Mary Theresa Bertels Welschmeyer. She was united in marriage on December 31, 1943 in Camp Blanding, Florida to William Howard Holtkamp who preceded her in death on May 16, 2002. They resided in Mexico, Missouri for a number of years before settling in Jefferson City. Catherine worked as a survey and planning clerk for the Missouri State Highway Department for 15 years retiring July 1, 1982. In retirement, she served as the chairperson for Cole County OATS (Older Adults Transportation Services). Catherine also volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Jefferson City. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the Ladies Quilting Society. Over the years, she gave many of her quilts and knitted items to the Salvation Army, St. Joseph's Bazaar, St. Mary's Health Center and individuals. Survivors include five children, Marilyn (Joel) Bown, Park City, Utah; Janet (Gary) Pack, Columbia, Missouri; Carol Ward, Muscatine, Iowa; Robert (Sally) Holtkamp, Jefferson City, Missouri; and Christine (Robin) Gierer, Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Ben Nowell, Susan Nowell, Lauren Holtkamp, Brianne (Landon) Colt, Christopher (Lindsey) Ward, Katie Rackers, and Matthew (Lauren) Rackers; one great-granddaughter, Harper Ward; two sisters, Mary Lou Gebuhr, Indianapolis, Indiana and Elizabeth (Anthony) Becker, Martinsburg, Missouri; one brother, Steve (Eunice) Welschmeyer, Martinsburg, Missouri; and leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Welschmeyer of Wellsville and Larry Welschmeyer of Martinsburg. Visitation will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Central Missouri Area Agency on Aging (home delivered meal program), CMAA Cole County, 1121 Business Loop 70E, FI 2A, Columbia, MO 65201, or Cathedral of St. Joseph, 2305 W.
