Billy Edwin McDowell, 81, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 2, 1924 in Jefferson City, the son of William John and Minnie Dietzel McDowell. He was married on Nov. 25, 1948 in Jefferson City to Virginia Elizabeth Jean Goeller who survives at the home. Mr. McDowell was employed for thirty seven years as a plumber with Otto Frank Plumping, Schrimpf Plumbing, Harold Butzer, Inc., and St. Louis Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 35 and 562. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Central Europe, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, the Battle of the Bulge, and Northern France. He was a member and Hospitality Minister of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Mens Sodality; and a life member of Roy Sone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1003. Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judy Ann and Thomas Chatham, Coldsprings, TX; one granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn Manley, Kingwood, TX; one brother and his wife, Richard and Retha McDowell, Springfield, MO; and three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Anna Mae McDowell, Rosalie Heislen, and Patricia Ann and Lloyd Dulle, all of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Terri Lynn McDowell; one brother, Paul McDowell; and two sisters, Mildred Forck and Margaret King. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick G. Dolan, the Rev. M. Brendan Griffey, and the Rev. Mr. Thomas Gerling officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 17th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund, 1206 E.
