Betty Jane Stockman, 84, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born August 18, 1938, in Matheson, Colorado, the daughter of Russell and Gladys (Ashcraft) Carneal.

She was united in marriage on December 3, 1957, in Carson, Colorado to Paul Francis Stockman, Sr. who preceded her in death on February 19, 2011.

Betty will be remembered as a loving and caring homemaker who brought joy and warmth into her family's lives.  Throughout her career, Betty worked diligently for Montgomery Wards and Scholastic, Inc.

A devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Betty found solace and strength in her faith.  Solving puzzles and engaging in card games were among her favorite pastimes.  Betty also enjoyed playing bingo and dominos while showcasing her culinary skills in the kitchen.

Above all else, Betty treasured the moments she spent with her dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she made every effort to create lasting memories filled with laughter and love.

Survivors include seven children, Tim Stockman (Donna Foster), Jefferson City; Lisa (Jim) Lage, Mary’s Home; Nora Stockman, Jefferson City; Earl Stockman, Taos; Brenda Bullock, Jefferson City; Greg Stockman, Jefferson City; Paul “Tate” Stockman, Jr., Jefferson City; 21 grandchildren, Cassandra Groner, Brian Groner, Simon Foster, Aidan Foster, Joshua Lage, Jason Lage, Jonie Blake, Adam Welschmeyer, Heather Warren, Brett Welschmeyer, Ashton Stockman, Danny Bruemmer, Beau Bruemmer, Nicholas Bullock, Krystal Bullock, Linley Stockman, Ben Stockman, Sadie Stockman, Brady Stockman, Landen Stockman, Kayla Stockman; 19 great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Arlene Felch, Lakeland, FL; and Larry (Gina) Carneal, Colorado Springs, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Stockman, Sr.; and two brothers, Darreld and Albert Carneal.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew Flatley officiating.

Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
