Betty Lou Welschmeyer

August 4, 1943 — November 26, 2020

Betty Lou Welschmeyer, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020, peacefully at her home.

She was born on August 4, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Sylvester Norbert and Lena Rose (Hoffman) Welschmeyer Bret.

She was a 1961 graduate of Helias High School and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.

She was employed as a secretary for the State of Missouri Elementary and Secondary Education for forty-three years before she retired in 2003.

She was involved in volleyball and bowling. Betty was very generous, kind, strong willed, and outspoken. She cherished the moments she spent with her family and friends. We enjoyed her wit and sense of humor. She was a master at cooking BBQ ribs and making her homemade ketchup. She was an avid fan of the Royals, Chiefs, and the St Louis Blues. She had a love of puzzles and scratch off tickets. When it came to special occasions, she would bring her cards and coins, so that we could gather around the kitchen table to have fun. Betty was fascinated by genealogy and worked years putting together books filled with her family history and the family tree.

Survivors include two brothers, Ronnie Lee Welschmeyer and Lynn Ray Welschmeyer; both of Jefferson City; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She considered them all her children. She had a big heart and gave to them freely.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Lou (Jack) Dickerson; and her stepfather, Elmo Eugene Bret.

Due to Covid concerns a private service was held for immediate family at Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
