Anthony Bernard Taube, Sr.

Anthony Bernard Taube, Sr., 85, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Westphalia Hills. He was born February 10, 1932, in Taos, Missouri, the son of the late John Joseph Taube, III, and Mary Gesina (Schnieders) Taube. Anthony served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage on October 29, 1955, in California, Missouri, to Virginia Mary Herman who survives. Anthony worked for the Boliver Shoe Company, Tweedie Shoe Company, International Shoe Company, DeLong's Inc., Capital Quarry, Callaway Nuclear Power Plant, Kroeger Brothers Welding, and the Operators/Engineers Local 513. His primary expertise was as a welder and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, VFW, and the American Legion. He was a charter member of the Cole County Volunteer Fire Department where he served as a Captain and First Aid instructor. He also was a member of Missouri Citizens for Life and Vitae Foundation. Anthony enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, building and designing projects, spending time with his family, and was a devoted man of his faith. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia Taube, Jefferson City; five children, Kathy (Jim) Stegeman, California; Tony Jr. (Nancy) Taube, Columbia; Mike (Alicia) Taube, California; Ron (Jennifer) Taube, Jefferson City; Rick (Wendy) Taube, Wardsville; ten grandchildren, Russell Stegeman, Matt Stegeman, Darrell (Darla) Stegeman, Laura (Nathan) Holtmeyer, Amanda (Nic) Wagner, John Taube, Tim Taube (fiance Isabelle Brothers) Chelsey Taube, Ashley (Joe) Hanley, Amber Taube; eight great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Rita Forck, Taos; Mary Riegel, Loose Creek; a sister-in-law, Mildred Taube, Wardsville; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Kate Verslues, Barbara Rackers, Agatha Rustemeyer, Theresa Wolken, Helen Berhorst; and six brothers, Frank, August, Otto, Liberatus, Joe, and Leo Taube. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Joshua Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
