Allan Maddox Carroll

Allan Maddox Carroll, 93, of Centertown, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on January 20, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles Edmond and Mary (Maddox) Carroll.

A 1949 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School, Allan received a Bachelor of Science in Education and Sports Education and had two years towards his master’s degree. 

He was united in marriage to Sue Marlene Stover on November 27, 1974, in Jefferson City and she resides at the home. 

Allan worked for the Sprint Telephone Company as the Public Relations Manager and for three years as General Manager in Maryville, Missouri, retiring in 1996. 

He was a member of Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ. He was a past president of BPA (Business and Professional Association), in Platte City, Missouri. He was a coach in Albany, Missouri and was a member of the Hall of Fame in football and track in Excelsior Springs. 

Allan liked to play golf, watch Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, the news, and all sports on tv. He was a faithful Kansas City Chiefs fan. His greatest joy was to play with his grandchildren. 

Survivors include his wife, Sue; two daughters, Allyson (Patrick) Harkins, Florida; and Rachel Suzanne Burks, Jefferson City; eleven grandchildren, Caroline (Matthew) Brock, Adam (fiancé, Jada Leigh) Harkins, John Paul Harkins, Anna (Joe) Scholnick, Ashley (James) Tillett, Brandon (Sarah) McCue, Morgan McCue, Jorma (Emily) Carroll, Casey (Derick) Kranz, Carleigh Burks, and Jacob Burks; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Carroll, a daughter, Alana Petrovic, a grandson, Evan Harkins, a great-great granddaughter, Alana Mae Weems, and two brothers, Norman Carroll, and Kenneth E. Carroll.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. with Brent Newton, preacher, officiating.
