Ronald Glennon Power, 78, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born September 27, 1942, in Monroe City, Missouri, the son of the late Virgil Glennon and Eva Louise (Crowley) Power.

Ron was a 1960 graduate of McCooey High School in Hannibal, Missouri. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from Northeast Missouri State at Kirksville, a Teachers Certificate from University of Missouri and a Wastewater Certification from Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri.

He was united in marriage on April 20, 1963, in Hannibal, Missouri to Linda Rae Dysart who resides at the home.

During his long career in education, Ron taught Biology in Montgomery City R-2 High School and Southeast State in Cape Girardeau. He continued his career teaching Physiology, Zoology, Anatomy, and Biology at Morgan County R-2 High School.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Ron was a passionate educator for 30 years. He devoted his career not only to the classroom but expanded it to his students’ extra-curricular activities. His love for teaching was enhanced by serving as a volleyball coach, running the school’s athletic concession stand, pep club sponsor and driving a bus route for over twenty-five years, all while teaching. In later years, he worked for the City of Versailles at the Wastewater Plant. After retiring, he went to work at Oak Tree Villas as a resident chauffeur.

He loved to garden but his favorite times were spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him Papa.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of fifty-eight years; a daughter, Cheri Power, Jefferson City; a son, Terrill (Joanna) Power, Rockford, Illinois; three grandchildren, Katelynn (Kyle) Zook, Alexandria Inman, and Logan Power; and five great-grandchildren, Hunter Lee Inman, Audrey Kay Inman, Kaleb Zook, Kymberlee Zook, Keegan Zook, and Baby K Zook due in July.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 11-12:00 Noon, Saturday, May 1, 2021, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, May 1, 2021, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Michael W. Penn officiating.

Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mass Intentions or to the continuing education of the great-grandchildren in care of Linda Power.
