Roger Virgil Ling

Roger Virgil Ling, 85, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. He was born on June 9, 1929, in Evansville, Illinois, the son of the late Virgil Armor and Marguerite Elizabeth (McCormick) Ling. Roger was a 1947 graduate of Bland High School. He was united in marriage on June 10, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville, Missouri to Jessie Ruth Gillispie who survives. Roger worked as a general foreman for Von Hoffman Press from 1967-1992. Prior to working for Von Hoffman Press, Roger was an assistant plant manager for International Shoe Company in Bland, Missouri from 1947-1967. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, St. Joseph Men's Association, and the Fraternal Order of Eagle's Aerie 2693. Roger was very active in his church as an usher and communion minister. He also participated in the Adoration Chapel, Cursillo, and the RCIA team. Other survivors include: three children, Carol (James) Underwood, New Bloomfield; Paula (Dan) Sanning, Taos; Kevin Ling (Lisa Branson), Russellville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joanne (Bob) Kraemer, Chesterfield, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Aaron Maddox Underwood; two sisters, Lola Sierawski and Bette Clark; and two brothers, Kenneth Ling and Jim Ling. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Burial will be in the James Community Cemetery near Vienna, Missouri. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph Cathedral Foundation or to the James Community Cemetery Fund.
