MARY KATHERINE MCGEEHAN

July 25, 1926 — November 28, 2012

Mary Katherine Kay McGeehan, 86, of Jefferson City, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 28, 2012.
Kay was born on July 25, 1926, the daughter of Aubrey and Mama Jessie Bowden.
Kay and William F. McGeehan were married November 20, 1948 in Memphis, TN. Bill survives of the home.
Kay grew up in a loving Southern family in Mississippi. She graduated from high school and then attended Mississippi State College for Women with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics.
After college she became an airline stewardess with American Airlines. She was able to travel and see the world until she met the love of her life Bill, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Bill was a navigator in the United States Air Corp and they settled down in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. For the next twelve years they moved throughout the United States, raising their family of six beautiful children.
Kay was a stay at home Mom for many years. She often taught school as a substitute teacher and worked with her brother, Jones Bowden, as his office manager. Kay entered the real estate profession after moving to Jefferson City. She was very successful and deeply involved in real estate in central Missouri and throughout the United States.
Kay enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family, including her nieces and nephews, were a very important part of her wonderful life. Her humor, love and constant smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kay is survived by her husband Bill; six children, Chip and Teresa McGeehan, Kathy and Charles Chace, Mike and Vera McGeehan, Pat and Cindy McGeehan, Ann McGeehan and Sheila Purdy; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Eva McGeehan; brother-in-law Tom Watts; 11 nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Floyd and Jones Bowden, her sisters-in-law Margaret Bowden and Pat Watts and her brother-in-law Hugh McGeehan.
Kays family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. There will be no funeral services.
Kays family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to the Conservation Federation of Missouri in care of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
