Joe George Goedde, 70, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City. He was born July 25, 1946, in Jefferson City, the son of the late George L. and Betty A. (Bauer) Goedde. He was a 1964 graduate of Helias High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla, with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta social fraternity. Joe served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Joe was united in marriage on October 20, 1984, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Sue Beth Bower, of California, Missouri. Their son, Joseph George Samuel Goedde, of Ballwin, was born in 1985, and their daughter Christina Elizabeth Goedde, of Jefferson City, was born in 1987. He was employed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources-Division of State Parks for thirty-two years as a design engineer, supervising of the design section for many years. After retirement, Joe worked several years for the Missouri Department of Conservation as a part-time contract supervisor. Joe was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, the Knights of Columbus-Council 12992, the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5, the Missouri Parks Association, past member of the Noon Host Lions Club, and a past board member of the Special Learning Center. He supported the American Red Cross blood donation program, donating over 16 gallons of blood. Joe also participated in the Learning in Retirement Program. He planned and led several bus tours to Missouris state parks, historic sites and other Missouri attractions. Joe assisted with coaching most of his childrens sports teams and several of his daughters Special Olympics athletic teams. He is survived by his wife, Sue Goedde, Jefferson City; his son, Joseph (Alicia) Goedde, Ballwin; his daughter, Christina Goedde, Jefferson City; one grandson, Alexander George Goedde; one brother, Harold Goedde, Ballwin; two sisters, Charlotte Graf, Ballwin, and Grace (Jerry) Abbott, Jefferson City; one nephew, Cole Abbott, Jefferson City; and two nieces, Suzanne (John) ODonnell, Chicago, Illinois, and Theresa Graf, Denver, Colorado. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday, June 1st, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 2nd, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki and the Rev. Joshua Duncan concelebrating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Special Learning Center, Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Friday Night Recreation program for the disabled, and/or to donate a pint of blood to the American Red Cross.
