CECILIA GERTRUDE SCHMID

Cecilia Gertrude Schmid, 95, of St. Louis, formerly of Koeltztown, died Friday, September 16, 2011, at Dutchtown Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on October 15, 1915, in Koeltztown, Mo., the daughter of the late Otto Marie and Theresia Renneke Sankey.
She was a graduate of St. Peter High School where her father was a professor and church organist.
She was united in marriage on May 7, 1935, in Bonnots Mill, Mo., to Henry Joseph Schmid who preceded her in death on August 5, 1979.
A homemaker most of her life, Cecilia received her teaching certificate and taught at Cadet Creek near Bonnots Mill before she married her husband Henry.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown, Mo.
Survivors include: five children, James (Carolyn) Schmid, St. Charles; Jeanette (Roger) Santen, St. Louis; Helene (Gary) Gazall, St. Louis; Mary (Jerome) Rockelman, Lohman; and Thomas (Stephanie) Schmid, Jefferson City. Other survivors include her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Patrice Schmid; a son, Harold Schmid; three sisters, Antoinette Canan, Scholastica Golla, Christine Gutgessel; and four brothers, Carl Sankey, Otto Sankey Jr., Ansgar (Ike) Sankey, and Greg Sankey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Koeltztown, Mo., with the Rev. Msgr. Marion J. Makarewicz officiating.
Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery Fund.
